New York City mayor Bill de Blasio is expected to announce a new requirement that people provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to participate in indoor activities, city officials have told local media including The New York Times.

The program will also include a new "Key to NYC Pass" that will serve as proof of inoculation for workers and customers at indoor dining establishments, gyms, and performance venues.

The move is de Blasio's latest attempt to increase the vaccination rate in the in the city of 8.4 million.
